Presidential Sports Bar Installation

Our client brought a seemingly simple idea, Take his kids’ basement playroom and turn it into a sports bar for he and his friends. Simple enough, right? Read on.

This structure produced numerous challenges and opportunities as the project went along. Since we were dealing with an existing structure and a tight budget, completely re-doing the drywall was out of the question. All work, including A/V wiring, Lighting, and Plumbing had to be accomplished by using existing holes for access. The hollow tray ceiling played into our favor. We followed behind the electricians during the rough-in stage as they cut holes for the new can lights; we were able use the pathway to run our wires to the otherwise inaccessible areas of the room. As a result, drywall repair came in under budget.

Our next challenge was finding a suitable location for the source equipment, as there was only one tiny mechanical closet in the room. Our solution was to recess the equipment into the rear of the bar and to access the rack through the closet wall adjacent to the bar. Electrical and plumbing were accessed through the same closet.

One of the great features of this space is the ability of the system to be used in multiple configurations. Through the control system, the client can select different room modes. Pressing the appropriate button in the opening touch panel page accesses the Theater mode. The mode activates only the main zone on the A/V processor, powers the 60-inch plasma, sets the surround mode, lowers the black-out shades and selects the lighting preset. The Bar mode activates both the main zone and zone two, powers all three TV’s, sends the TV’s to sport channel presets and sets the audio to stereo mode for a true “bar” ambience. A pool mode was added to utilize the existing outdoor speakers. Our client can select any audio source in the rack from anywhere in his back yard using the wireless touch panel.

In our client’s words, “The project turned out exactly as I envisioned”.
