Theater Installation
Our
client was interested in a comfortable room without a lot of visible “fluff”.
We delivered. This theater was planned during the new home construction
and created with functionality, ease of use, and budget constraints
in mind. The major feature of the space is the simplicity of its design.
An
immediate challenge was the client’s desire for a star field
fiber-optic ceiling. Being a basement room with 2x10 floor joists above
created a need to rough-in the fibers over a period of 4 days. One
third of the ceiling was dry-walled at a time, allowing the access
needed to pull the individual strands of fiber back to the light source
in the equipment closet.
The
proscenium is dealer designed, manufactured, and installed. In addition
to its aesthetic properties, it serves to hide the front speakers and
the subwoofers. The design also allows for the curtain to partially
retract into the cavity. The walls are double insulated and dry-walled
and upholstered with carpet, providing for surprisingly good acoustics.
System
control is simplified by the Crestron control system. The client asked
for as many “one button” automated control options as possible.
Start, stop, source and lighting selection commands are one-touch operations.
The basement game room and bar functions are also automated by the
system.
Our
client is extremely satisfied. The theater is their favorite room in
the house
